• Zach & Lucy - They toured with Dawn. As they were touring with Dawn, something blossomed between them, and Zach and Lucy got married. Zach released multiple solo albums as a bassist and was nominated for a Grammy.

The Mold was created near the beginning of time in Starstruck’s world. Multiple traditions possess knowledge of it. This traditional knowledge of The Mold has been carried forward through time thanks to their myths and stories.

When The Mold spoke to Edwin about him being molded into a new shape, it told Edwin “it’s been done before”. One of the things The Mold was talking about there is that near the beginning of time in Starstruck’s world, it also re-molded the first person of that time.

When a world re-engages with its creation story, it renews itself and re-connects with its origin (its center). The Mold is trying to enact a false “renewal” of the world of 20XX by re-enacting its own fictional creation story about its world’s origins. The Captain’s mission is to stop this.

Edwin’s parents met in New York City. Edwin’s father worked in finance, and though he was based in the Upper East Side, he was more often than not travelling on business to cities like London, Tokyo, and Shanghai.

Edwin’s mom was the daughter of the founder of the firm where Edwin’s dad worked. They initially kept their relationship a secret as Edwin’s dad knew Edwin’s mom’s father would not approve due to religious reasons.

Unfortunately, the firm went under, and Edwin’s father became unemployed. To make matters worse, Edwin’s mom was then cut off from her family after her father found out about the relationship. Edwin’s parents got married and continued living in Manhattan for a while, where Edwin would be born. At some point, Edwin and his parents moved to Florida after Edwin’s dad was offered a job at a mortgage lender there through a former colleague.

As for how Edwin and Zach met, they met in biology class. Actually, it was the “gifted”-level biology class.

Edwin was a student in the “gifted” program in school, which he qualified for upon enrolling after moving from New York to Florida. His parents paid for a certified test of Edwin’s intelligence through a private doctor in New York, and these test results enabled Edwin to enter the program. This doctor was the wife of a former partner at her family’s firm.

Zach was not in the school’s “gifted” program, but because he consistently got good grades and was well-liked by his teachers, he was encouraged to try to enter the “gifted” program on a trial basis.

The biology teacher, frustrated at Zach’s antics as the class clown, moved Zach to go sit next to Edwin (the quiet kid) in the hopes that Edwin’s quietness would rub off on Zach. However, this backfired as Zach and Edwin ended hitting it off, often talking or making smart remarks to each other during lessons.

Edwin would often let Zach copy his homework, and even let Zach cheat off him during tests, because Edwin thought Zach was cool and wanted him to like him.

As they spent more time together, they became fast friends, especially when Zach learned that Edwin played guitar. At some point, Zach started inviting Edwin over to jam and hang out and not just to copy his homework.

There are just over 4,000 people. They are the descendents of the moon colonists who just happened to be present on the moon when the Earth got molded.

It’s impossible to count how many AIs there are. AI is runs everything on the moon, and it has advanced so much that there’s some form of AI in every device.

Yes, the Captain underwent very intense training. In fact, they have trained their entire life for this mission. They are highly educated in music, art, and history. They know multiple languages, and their reflexes are lightning fast.

And yes, their class was full of many strong personalities. The moon is a very lonely place. There’s not really much to do there, so there’s a lot of drama and politics that ends up filling the void. Because of that, the Captain doesn’t really mind leaving it behind that much.

Yes. Video games, VR, and all kinds of technological distractions are very, very popular on the moon. Apart from work, things like that are kind of the only thing to do there, because it’s not safe to go outside.

I do not know what “Bleu Cheese” is, but no, it is not canon in Starstruck.

Edwin is related to both Buzz Aldrin and Adam. Hadley plays a similar role to Mister Rogers in Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. (The word “dawn” also has the opposite meaning of the word “eve”.)

Though Hadley is an AI, he is not an LLM. An LLM is language-based AI that can only reason through language. In other words, it’s bound by the rules of language. In the year 30XX, AI has begun to move beyond that restriction. Hadley is one of these cutting edge AIs that can think beyond language. This makes him unique, as most of the other AIs in 30XX are LLMs.

As Hadley is from the year 30XX, which has been molded, he is a product of that world, and his existence is only possible because of that. Despite that, he still really wants to complete the mission.

This might seem contradictory, but it’s not. Starstruck itself is trying to be art, but obviously part of the whole concept of Starstruck is a skepticism towards art in general. It doesn’t have a 100% positive view of art. The Captain is also like Hadley, in that they are also a product of the year 30XX, but they are trying to reverse what has happened.

To create the characters’ voices, we recorded each character’s voice actor reading random sentences which were completely unrelated to the game. After we recorded them, I chopped the sentences into smaller audio clips based on whatever I thought worked best and wasn’t too distracting.

However, it seems like the “pound of sugar” clip was more distracting than I expected. It got to the point where when some players head it, I could tell it was distracting them from the actual dialogue on-screen. Unfortunately, because of that, I had no choice but to remove it.

No, Zach was not inspired by Picky at all. His hairstyle was based on the main character’s hair in the game Endonesia which was made by Vanpool.

The Neighborhood of 20XX is not “our world”. Hadley talks about this, when he tells the Captain the world of 20XX is 1000 years prior to the world of 30XX (“our future”).

The Captain’s mission is to travel back in time from 30XX to 20XX in order to alter history in 20XX, saving 30XX from its fate. In other words, the Captain is trying to prevent the world of 20XX from transforming into the world of 30XX. If you look at it from another perspective, you could say that The Mold’s goal is to transform the world of 20XX into the world of 30XX.

Yes, the other moon colonists already knew exactly what would happen to the Captain at the end of the mission and how exactly it would play out.

Although no one told the Captain about what exactly would happen and how, they still somehow knew what their ultimate fate would be when they accepted the mission, and chose to accept the mission knowing this.

The Captain’s friends could not simply just pack some hammers, screwdrivers, etc. in the Captain’s ship because only the Captain’s hand can be transported through the transporter to the Neighborhood of 20XX.

It can’t transport other objects like hammers, so even if the Captain had them in their ship, there’d be no practical way to actually get them from the Captain’s ship into the Neighborhood of 20XX.

Ozwald is trying to plant a “seed” in Dawn, reducing her to the “soil” for the “tree” that would grow from that seed. The crunch sound is related to the “consumption” of soil by a seed. It is also related to the moldy apple that shows up later with that same sound.
